Abstract

Jeffrey A. Thaler, an environmental attorney and a partner in the law firm of Berman & Simmons, at a press conference last Friday accused Maine's gubernatorial candidates of spreading misinformation about the state's air pollution. When reporters asked Thaler about partisan motivations, he said he was speaking strictly as an individual and was not involved in the gubernatorial campaign. Thaler in June was a panelist at an economic summit hosted by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joseph E. Brennan, and in August accompanied Brennan on a trade visit to the Canadian Maritimes.
