Abstract

The National Rifle Association today will try to convince the Maine Supreme Judicial Court that the Portland Housing Authority's 18-year-old ban on guns in its housing projects violates the Maine Constitution. Justice Sidney W. Wernick, a semi-retired Supreme Judicial Court justice, in December ruled that the ban does not violate the state's constitution because it is not absolute. Details.
