Abstract

Shaw's Supermarkets of Massachusetts this month began offering merchandise certificates of between $10 and $100 to people who regularly shop at a dozen stores, including stores in Scarborough, Augusta and Bangor. Hannaford Bros. of Scarborough, owners of Shop 'n Save supermarkets, say they do not plan to copy the "Spend and Save" program, and view it as a gimmick. Details.
