Abstract

Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) this week will begin reading electric meters in Portland every other month, and will estimate charges during the intervening months. The utility estimates the change will result in savings of $600,000 annually, mostly through the elimination of 19 of its 80 meter readers. The change in practice will eventually be applied to around 97 percent of CMP's 480,000 customers. Details, related article.
