Abstract

Last month, Canadian regulators declared the Confederation Life Insurance Co. of Toronto to be bankrupt. Although the company serviced about $11.5 million in annuity and life insurance business in Maine, Mainers will feel no immediate impact form the action because regulators severed the firms United States operation from that of the troubled parent.
