Abstract
Cook's Corner Shopping Center in Brunswick has found new life as part of a booming retail district serving mid-coast Maine, and during the last six months has been the site of new stores or expansions by Staples Office Supply, Bookland and TJ Maxx. A limited access highway due for completion in 1997 will provide much faster access to Interstate 95, and a new Mid Coast Hospital will bring even more people into the district. The outlook was very different two years ago, when the opening of a Wal-Mart and the new Merrymeeting Plaza promised to take business away from the stores at Cook's Corner. Details.
