Abstract

An independent panel has found that the system used to award nearly $1 million in state grants for school computers was unfair, and has recommended that the state Department of Education improve its process for the future. The department received 109 applications for 12 grants of $75,000 to develop or enhance computer technology in the schools. The Somerville School Committee requested the review of the selection process, but asked that the awards not be invalidated.
