Abstract

A U.S. District Court jury has awarded Joanna Williamson $16,000 in damages for racial insults made by Thore Aatlo, who was found to have violated Williamson's civil rights during a February 1993 incident at Rosie's restaurant on Fore Street in Portland. Williamson, an African American businesswoman, had sued both Aatlo and the restaurant, owned by Robert S. Harris, but the jury's verdict vindicates Harris. Details.
