Abstract

The Maine Historical Society yesterday began a $2 million fund-raising campaign so it can open its 174-year-old collection of artifacts to the public. Money raised will be used to create exhibition space for The Center for Maine History, to be housed in the MHS gallery at 489 Congress Street in Portland. Another goal is to create a $1.5 million endowment to finance educational programs and exhibitions on Maine hisotry. Details.
