    Description

    Aerial of view of Monument Square and vicinity from southeast. Middle Street at diagonal center (top left- to lower right). Union Street at lower left. Temple Street at center, with First Parish Church at the northern end of the street. Congress Street in background. Exchange Street at right edge.
    At the time of the photograph, the Falmouth Hotel (212 Middle Street) and Edwards and Walker had been demolished (1963 and 1965, respectively).
    The triangular block flanked by Middle Street, Temple Street, and Federal Street, came to be known as "The Golden Triangle," later developed as One City Center (1984-1985).
